A Final Tribute, Carved to Last: Custom Memorials for Nampa Families

We've cut and set stone in Nampa for generations: markers at Kohlerlawn, restorations on monuments that had gone soft and unreadable, families met in our Caldwell showroom on some of their hardest days.

Canyon County cemeteries don't run on Ada County's rulebook. Foundation depth, base sizing, section-by-section rules on height or vase placement. They vary more than people expect, sometimes even within the same cemetery. A company that only shows up occasionally won't learn those rules until the stone's already cut. 

We know them going in.

Grass-Level (Flat) Markers

Set flush with the ground on a poured concrete foundation, this is our most understated option. It's also often the only option: several sections at Kohlerlawn require flat markers, so a lot of Nampa families start here simply because the cemetery calls for it. Where the cemetery allows, we can set them slightly raised or beveled instead.

Standing 6 to 8 inches at the back and tapering to 4 to 6 inches at the front, bevel markers (sometimes called "pillow top") aren't just a style choice. The slope sheds dirt and standing water that Idaho's freeze-thaw winters leave on flat stone, so lettering stays legible years longer.

Taller than a flat or bevel marker, with room for lettering and design on both the front and back. That extra height makes them easier to spot from a distance, something families notice in larger sections like Kohlerlawn's.

Set on a granite base and sealed with a specialized compound so wind, mowing equipment, and freeze-thaw cycles can't shift it over time. This is what most people picture when they think "headstone," and it's usually where our design team does its most personal work.

A headstone alone can't give a family somewhere to sit. We build benches in the same granite and craftsmanship as our monuments, whether it's a standalone memorial or a companion piece within a larger family plot.

This is where our in-house artists earn their keep. Laser etched portraits, hero emblems for first responders and veterans, custom shapes, scenes pulled from a family's own photographs. Larger scope work that falls outside a single headstone order: mausoleum work, columbarium projects, and full cemetery restorations. Kohlerlawn's oldest sections, dating to the 1890s, sometimes need this kind of attention as historic stones settle and weather over a century plus.
